Ingredients

  1. 1 2/3 cupswhole milk (about 400 ml)
  2. 1 2/3 cupssweetened condensed milk (about 400 ml)
  3. 4eggs
  4. 1 tablespoonvanilla extract (about 15 ml)
  5. 1 tablespoonrum (about 15 ml)
  6. 1 cupsugar (about 200 grams)

Cooking Instructions

    To make the caramel, melt the sugar in a hot pan over medium heat until it becomes liquid and turns amber. Do not let it burn too much as it will become very bitter.

    Once the caramel is ready, pour it into a mold and let it cool.

    Whisk the other ingredients for 10 seconds. Pour this mixture over the set caramel and cover the mold with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 10 minutes and then finish cooking in a water bath for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

    Check the doneness with a wooden skewer; it should come out clean. Let it cool to room temperature. Then place the flan in the fridge for 3 hours, and enjoy it cold.
