Spicy Nagoya-Style Chicken Wings

These are the speciality of a famous restaurant in Nagoya, so I took on the challenge of recreating it at home.
Cook the chicken wings all the way through. When you coat them with the sauce, if you let them sit for too long the sauce will get too oily, so work fast and take them out quickly. If you don't like spicy food, go easy on the black pepper. The wings are just as good with the sweet and salty sauce alone. Recipe by YU-RI

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash the chicken wings with water and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper and massage the seasonings in well.
- 2
Put the katakuriko in a plastic bag and add the seasoned chicken wings. Shake and massage the bag to coat the wings evenly.
- 3
Shake off any excess flour and take the chicken out of the bag. Heat up some frying oil in a pan to over medium-high heat.
- 4
Deep fry the chicken wings at around 170°C to 180°C for about 8 minutes. (Adjust the frying time depending on the size of the wings.) If you are frying the wings in a frying pan, put about 1 cm of oil in and fry the wings over low-medium heat one side at a time, taking care not to let them burn.
- 5
Make the sauce while you are frying the wings. Put the ingredients marked ★ (soy sauce, mirin, sake, sesame seeds, black pepper) in a large bowl and mix together. Put just half the amount of black pepper in, and reserve the rest to sprinkle on the wings.
- 6
Sprinkle the freshly fried wings with the reserved black pepper.
- 7
Dip the wings one at a time into the mixed sauce. Coat the wings thoroughly with the sauce and put on a serving plate.
- 8
Done!

Nagoya-style Sweet and Spicy "Chicken Bars" Nagoya-style Sweet and Spicy "Chicken Bars"
I love chicken bars. I thought I could eat a lot if I used inexpensive boneless breast meat, so I came up with this recipe.Chicken breast gets tough if you overcook them, so it's best to fry them quickly over high heat. These are tastier if you let them rest for a while rather than eating them right away. For 4 servings. Recipe by Harunbouya cookpad.japan -
Spicy Curry Fried Chicken Wings Spicy Curry Fried Chicken Wings
I wanted to make a fried dish that goes well with beer. I put in a bunch of different seasonings, and I ended up with a great recipe for fried chicken. It's a good idea to get a lot of chicken wings when they go on sale, season them, and store them in the freezer. When you want to eat them, simply thaw them, coat them in katakuriko, and fry them. This is great when you don't have a lot of time. The listed weight of the chicken is the combined weight of the wings. If you're using thighs instead of wings, the listed weight is the rough equivalent of one thigh. Korean Style Spicy Oven Baked Chicken Wings Korean Style Spicy Oven Baked Chicken Wings
I love Korean style fried chicken, but deep frying them seems to make them really high in calories, so I experimented with creating an oven baked version. It's popular with family and friends when we have a party.● This amount fills up an American sized oven baking sheet (33 cm x 46 cm). Please adjust the amount by halving it and so on to fit your oven sheets and oven.●When putting the chicken wings in the marinade, if you massage them over the bag, your hands won't get messy.
