A Chef's Recipe for Sweet Onion "Steak" With Garlic Butter Soy Sauce A Chef's Recipe for Sweet Onion "Steak" With Garlic Butter Soy Sauce
I'm recording this here so I don't forget the recipe.Try not to touch the onions as they're cooking! They'll still taste good even if they break, but it's best if they don't. Coating them in a bit of katakuriko may help keep them from falling apart so easily! Recipe by Silvy1978 cookpad.japan -
Sweet, Spicy, Rich Tofu Steaks Sweet, Spicy, Rich Tofu Steaks
I was working on recipes that used our family favorite Sweet and Spicy Sauce. At first I tried it without mayonnaise, and it was 'just ok', not worth writing up as a recipe. But once I added mayonnaise it became a dish I was proud of, so I uploaded it here.-Use a thick, durable kitchen paper towel that holds up to heat well for Step 2.-Katakuriko absorbs a lot of oil, so if there isn't enough oil add some more.-This is delicious as a donburi rice bowl topping. Sweet and Salty Pork Steak Sweet and Salty Pork Steak
I learned this recipe from my mother-in-law who is a great cook. The sweet and salty sauce will whet your appetite. Every time I make this, we run out of rice. It is a sure hit menu of my family. If you keep the meat macerated for too long or if you rub it in, the taste will be too strong so be careful. But when you don't have so much time, you can rub and grill it. Recipe by Miwamailove cookpad.japan -
Sweet & Savory Maple Glazed Ham Steaks Sweet & Savory Maple Glazed Ham Steaks
I found some ham steaks on sale and wasn't sure what to do with them. As in the past, I couldn't find quite the right recipe for what I hoped to do with them, so I took a "little of this and a little of that" from several other recipes and added my own spin. The result was quick, easy, and a huge hit with the fam, especially considering that my husband "hates" ham, but now asks for this dish quite often! 😁 Nikki Zazz -
Soy and sweet chili glazed flank steak Soy and sweet chili glazed flank steak
As a kid, the only steaks I knew were soy marinated. In fact, I don't think I tasted a steak that hadn't been doused in soy sauce and black pepper until my early teens. It was just the way it was with my family. In the years since, I've discovered the joys of enhancing my steaks with various rubs, sauces, and condiments, with my three favourites being horseradish mayo, blue cheese sauce, and tangy chimichurri. Well, tonight was steak night in our house, and I thought it was time to revisit my childhood staple. Rather than simply combining soy and pepper, though, I decided to kick the flavours up slightly. Sweet chili sauce and brown sugar brought sweetness and heat, ponzu added a little acid, and garlic added bite. The end result was familiar, but better. Robert Gonzal -
