Easy Italian Omu-Rice

I spotted some of the new workers in my company eating delicious-looking omu-rice at lunchtime and that got me craving it. I had some leftover tomato sauce, so tried making omu-rice with it, and this was the result.

You don't have to wrap the omelets around rice in this recipe, just place them on top, so there's no fear of messing up Using tomato sauce allows you to create a dish that tastes great and looks very stylish, without having to use lots of ingredients and seasonings If you accidentally tear a hole in the omelets, don't worry - you can just cover them with tomato sauce and nobody will be any the wiser. Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1 smallOnion
  2. 5Wiener sausages
  3. 2servings Cooked white rice
  4. 2 largeEgg
  5. 1 tbspMilk
  6. 2 sliceEasily melting cheese
  7. 1jar/pack Tomato sauce
  8. 1Salt
  9. 1Pepper
  10. 1Fresh parsley
  11. 1Butter

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Mince the onion, and slice the wiener sausages into small rounds.

  2. 2

Fry the onion and wiener sausages in 1 tablespoon of butter, seasoning with salt and pepper. Using butter adds great flavor to the dish, but you can use vegetable oil if preferred.

  3. 3

Add the cooked white rice and season with salt and pepper once more. Fry, mixing so that the onion and wieners are evenly distributed throughout the rice.

  4. 4

Add 4 tablespoons of tomato sauce, and mix evenly throughout the rice while continuing to fry.

  5. 5

Tightly pack 1/2 the rice into a rice bowl or other dish/mold.

  6. 6

Turn out onto a plate. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 in the same way for the 2nd serving. I made mine in heart-shapes this time.

  7. 7

Beat an egg thoroughly, adding the milk, salt, and pepper as desired. Melt some butter in a frying pan, pour in the egg mixture, and top with 1 slice of cheese.

  8. 8

When half-way cooked, turn off the heat and place the omelet on top of the plated rice. Make a 2nd omelet in the same way, and use it to cover the 2nd portion of rice.

  9. 9

Heat the remainder of the tomato sauce.

  10. 10

Once heated, pour a generous amount over both rice-stuffed omelets, and garnish with a sprinkling of parsley.

  11. 11

I use the tomato sauce pictured.
