Panchmel Dal also known as Panchratan dal is a Rajasthani style dal prepared by five different lentils. Dal is an important part of Indian cuisine. Dal is prepared in every Indian household in their daily meals and served with roti, chapati,phulka, steamed rice or jeera rice. Dal-Chwal combination is satisfying and comfort meal.
As we know, lentils are rich in proteins ,we should consume and include it in our daily meals.

Panchmel Dal also known as Panchratan dal is a Rajasthani style dal prepared by five different lentils. Dal is an important part of Indian cuisine. Steps

Wash dal and soak it for 30 minutes. Add salt, turmeric, and water and pressure cook it.

Heat ghee in a thick bottom pan, add cumin seeds, once they splutter add asafoetida, onion, and garlic, sauté till onion becomes transparent.

Add tomato and sauté till they become soft and mushy.

Further, add ginger and dry spices.

Finally, add pressure cooked dal and add water to adjust consistency. Add salt and lemon too. Mix and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

Then turn off the heat and serve hot with rice.

You can another tempering at the end, but I skipped it. Can add garam masala.
