Ingredients

  1. For dal
  2. 1/4 cupsplit moong dal
  3. 1/4 cupsplit black urad dal
  4. 1/4 cupchana dal or split gram dal
  5. 1/4 cupmasoor dal
  6. 1/4 cupyellow moong dal & tuvar dal or arhar dal
  7. 1onion finely chopped
  8. 1tomato finely chopped
  9. 1 table spoonginger garlic paste
  10. 1bay leaf
  11. 2cloves
  12. 1green chili finely chopped
  13. 4 table spoonoil
  14. 1 table spoonmustard seeds
  15. 1 table spooncumin seeds
  16. 5-6curry leaves
  17. 1 table spoonturmeric powder
  18. 1 table spooncumin coriander powder
  19. 1 table spoonred chili powder
  20. 1 table spoonkashmiri red chili powder
  21. 1 table spoongaram masala
  22. as per taste Salt
  23. as required Coriander for garnishing
  24. For bati
  25. 2 cupswheat flour
  26. 1/2 cupsemolina or rava
  27. 4 table spoonghee or clarified butter
  28. as per taste Salt
  29. As required Water to knead the dough
  30. For churma
  31. 3batis
  32. 2 table spoonghee or clarified butter
  33. 2 table spoonpowdered sugar
  34. 7-8almonds
  35. 7-8cashews
  36. 2-3cardamom

Cooking Instructions

    Mix all dals. Soak for 2 hours. Pressure cook for 6 to 7 whistles

    Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, green chili, bay leaf, asaefoetida saute for minute. Add onion. Saute till it turn into golden brown colour.

    Add curry leaves, cumin coriander powder, red chili powder, kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder & garam masala.

    Pour dal. Add salt & water. Adjust consistency. Boil for 15 minutes.

    In mixing bowl take wheat flour, semolina, ghee & salt. Mix all well.

    Knead dough tightly.

    Make 10 balls. Give shape like shown in picture. Fold from all side. Make a ball.

    Make 10 equal balls.

    Roast on stove rack on low medium flame. It will take 15 to 20 minutes to roast bati completely.

    Crush 3 batis in mixer jar. Add sugar, ghee & dry fruits. Blend in mixer coarsely.

    Dal bati is ready. Serve with garlic chutney, masala buttermilk, sliced onion & lemon slices. Enjoy the whole thali.
