Ingredients

40 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1/ 2 cup sabit moong or green gram,
  2. 1/2 cupmoth dal or matki (Turkish Gram),
  3. as per tasteSalt
  4. 1 tspoil,
  5. MISAL MASALA.
  6. 2 tsp dhania sabit,
  7. 1/2 tspjeera,
  8. 1 medium sized onion sliced,
  9. 1 cup desiccated coconut,
  10. 1 inch ginger chopped,
  11. 5 garlic cloves,
  12. 4 laung,
  13. 10 kali mirch sabit,
  14. 1 dalchini pc,
  15. 8 dry red chilli,
  16. For Gravy
  17. 6 tbsp oil,
  18. . 1)2 tsp rai,
  19. as required Few curry patta,
  20. 1 med sized onion chopped finely,
  21. 1 tsp red chilli powder,
  22. to taste, Salt

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash Dal's, soak them in water overnight. Strain them, add in a wet cloth, tie it, keep aside. Dals will become sprouted. Take out in a bowl, keep aside.

    Take a pressure cooker, add dal, lil salt & 1/2 cup water, place the lid, give 1 whistle.

    Switch off the flame immediately. Allow it to depressurise. Take out in a bowl, keep aside.

    For Misal Masala...a).. Take a pan, heat it, lower the flame.

  5. 5

    B). Add dhania & zeera, stir it for a sec. Add dry chilli, give a stir. Now add onion & all the other given ingredients.

    C). Dry roast at low flame until light brown. Cool it. Grind it to a fine paste. Keep aside.

    Now take a wok or deep bottom pan, add oil, heat it. Add rai, let it splutter. Add curry leaves also.

    Now add onion, stir fry it until brown. Add salt & red chilli powder, stir it. Add lil water to avoid burning.

    Now add Misal Masala, add lil water, stir fry it at moderate flame. Cook it till oil has oozed out.

    Increase the flame add boiled dal, stir it for a minute. Add lil water if required, give a boil.

    Lower the flame, cook it covered for 7 minutes. Gravy should be a lil thin (not runny).

    Switch off the flame, take out in a serving bowl.

  13. 13

    Garnish it with some farsan or chatpata chanachur, chopped onion, green chili chopped, & chopped dhania patta.
