Steps
- 1
In a microwave safe container, take grated coconut, jaggery powder, cardamom powder and dry fruits. Microwave for 2 minutes. Mix well. Our quick fix filling is ready.
- 2
Next take a wide pan/ kadhai. Boil water. Add salt, cardamom powder. Mix.
Now add sooji and stir continuously to avoid any lumps. Let it be on slow flame for a minute.
Then add atta and stir this also continuously. Allow them to get cooked in slow flame. - 3
As it's done. Switch the flame off. Cover for a minute.
Next take a wide plate. Put the prepared crude dough. It must be warm. Knead it very well.
Take ghee/ oil in hand and again knead. - 4
Now divide the dough into small portions. Take one portion. Cover and keep the rest, else it will dry up.
Into the dough portion, we have to put filling. So make the dough into a cup. Put filling generously. Close from all sides. - 5
Nicely seal it and make it smooth. Give it a circular shape. Make and keep ready all the kakaras.
- 6
While you are preparing the kakaras, heat oil. Fry all the kakaras at medium heat.
Fry till they are crispy and golden brown in colour.
Drain and strain the extra oil. - 7
ATTA AND SOOJI KAKARAS are ready to serve.
This is an authentic Odia pitha. Very delicious.
