Ingredients

  1. 1 cuproasted semolina
  2. 1 cupchopped colourful veggies ( green, red and yellow bell pe
  3. as required peppers diced, sweet corn,green peas chopped carrots)
  4. 1small red onion chopped
  5. 1tomato chopped
  6. 1 tspgrated ginger
  7. 1fresh chilli chopped
  8. 5-6curry leaves
  9. 1 Tbspchopped green coriander leaves
  10. 2 Tbspcoconut oil
  11. 1 tspponch phutan
  12. 1dried red chili (optional)
  13. 1 tspchans dal
  14. 1 tspurad dal
  15. 2 Tbsproasted groundnuts
  16. 1 pinchhing powder
  17. 1 pinchturmeric powder
  18. as per taste Salt
  19. 1/2 TbspSambar masala powder
  20. 1.5 cupswater
  21. 1 tsplemon juice
  22. 1/2 tspsugar
  23. As Required Accompaniment
  24. as required Potato curry
  25. as required Sweet Boondi
  26. as Required Sev
  27. 1Carrot

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat oil in a wide pan. Let the ponch phutan splutter on medium flame. The add curry leaves and saute till aromatic. Add both chana dal and urad dal, roasted groundnuts, hing and chopped onion, fry till rawness of onion is gone.

    Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies, dry red chili, grated ginger, tomatoes,salt, turmeric powder and sambar masala powder. Saute on low flame till the tomatoes are softened.

    Add water, sugar and chopped coriander leaves and sauteed veggies. Bring to boil. Slow down the flame and gradually add roasted semolina/suji, constantly stirring to avoid lump formation. Then add lemon juice.

    Soft, delicious, colorful Suji Upma is ready to serve. I served with Potato curry and Boondi.
