Fried Chicken (Tenderloin) Wrapped with Nori Seaweed, Great for Bento

My mother used to make this dish when I was a kid. I thought chicken sticks would be fun to eat, so I tried it with chicken tenderloins.

You have to use flour to coat the chicken! If you use katakuriko potato starch flour, it won't be sticky and the nori seaweed won't stick to the chicken.

I used a plastic bag as shown in the picture.
When you are making a large amount, use a bowl!

You can substitute the chicken tenderloins with other kinds of chicken if you'd like. Recipe by Yonkochansan

Ingredients

  1. 6Chicken tenderloins
  2. 1Nori seaweed
  3. 1 tbspSoy sauce
  4. 1 tbspSake
  5. 1 tspMirin
  6. 1/2 smallBeaten egg
  7. 50 mlAll-purpose flour

Cooking Instructions

    Cut each chicken tenderloin into 2-3 strips lengthwise. Add the soy sauce, sake, and mirin, then rub in the seasoning. Add the beaten egg, and coat with the flour.

    When the chicken pieces are coated with the flour so that the nori seaweed will stick to them, cut the nori seaweed into the same size as the chicken.

    Wrap the Step 1 chicken with the nori seaweed.

    Deep fry, and you're done!
