Ingredients

30 minutes
2 servings
  1. 1 cupbasmati rice
  2. 1 1/2 cupgreen peas shelled
  3. 1medium size onion chopped
  4. 1small tomato chopped
  5. 1potato cut into cubes
  6. 1 tbspoil
  7. 1bay leaf
  8. 1 inchcinnamon
  9. 2green cardamom
  10. 1 tspcumin seeds
  11. 8-10peppercorns
  12. 1 tbspginger-garlic paste
  13. 2green chillies slit
  14. 1 tspturmeric powder
  15. 1 tspred chili powder
  16. 1 tsplemon juice
  17. 2 cupswater
  18. as per taste salt
  19. As Required Few coriander leaves for garnishing

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Take rice in the bowl and wash with clean water 2 to 3 times and soak for nearly 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    In a heavy bottom pan heat oil. Once the oil is heated crackle cumin seeds, cardamom, cinnamon stick, peppercorns and bay leaf.

  3. 3

    Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes away. Now add chopped onions and cook till they turn golden brown.

  4. 4

    Add green peas, potatoes and tomatoes. Cook covered till the potatoes get cooked and tomatoes turn mushy.

  5. 5

    Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt to taste. Add washed and soaked basmati rice.

  6. 6

    Add water and lemon juice and cook on medium till the water dries up completely and the rice is cooked evenly.

  7. 7

    Serve with salad and raita.

  8. 8

    Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
