You don't have to resort to using ketchup to make easy sweet and sour pork.

Regarding the timing to add the garlic, you usually add it in the beginning, but it will burn if you add it in first, so adding it in right before sautéing the vegetables is the best.

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 300 gramsPork shoulder block (loin or ham is OK)
  2. 1 largeOnion
  3. 2Green peppers
  4. 1/2Carrot
  5. 2pieces Shiitake mushroom
  6. 2 tsp○Dashi soy sauce (for seasoning the meat)
  7. 1○Katakuriko
  8. 1 cloveFinely chopped garlic
  9. 100 ml☆Water
  10. 1 tbsp☆Oyster sauce
  11. 1 tbsp☆Sake
  12. 1 tbsp☆Soy sauce
  13. 1 tbsp☆Dashi soy sauce (soy sauce premixed with dashi)
  14. 3 tbsp☆Black Vinegar
  15. 1 tbsp☆Sugar
  16. 1 tsp☆Chicken soup stock granules
  17. 1 tbsp☆Katakuriko
  18. 1 tsp☆Squeezed ginger juice
  19. 1 tbspSesame oil (for stir frying)

Cooking Instructions

    Cut the pork into 3 cm chunks, rub with the ○ dashi soy sauce, and let sit for 15 minutes. Cut the onions, green peppers, and shiitake mushrooms into 3 cm cubes, and thinly slice the carrots.

    Coat the pork with the ○ katakuriko, coat a pan with sesame oil, and cook until golden brown. Once the pork has cooked through, remove from the pan.

    Add oil to the same pan, sauté the minced garlic until aromatic and turn it up to strong heat, add the rest of the vegetables, and sauté briefly.

    Once the veggies have cooked through, add the meat back into the pan, add the pre-mixed ☆ ingredients, let thicken, and it is done!
