Steps

Wash Rice and Dal together and in a pressure cooker add the Rice & Dal together with water, add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, black pepper powder, whole red chillies, salt and mix. Put into pressure on one whistle on high flame and reduce the flame and keep in pressure for 10 mins, depressurise and set aside

For Tadka - In a wok heat oil, add cumin seeds, whole red chilies, add minced garlic and stir for 2 mins, add chopped onion and cook until softened, add chopped tomatoes and salt and cook until softened, set aside

Add to Khichdi and add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Plate with Chokha and enjoy 😊
