This is an amazing side dish that's made with both Lamb and Chicken Bone-in or even boneless. The best part is that it is basically a non-veg dish that's made with a few Indian spices and Curd which is the star ingredient here.
Tomatoes are also added to give it a nice flavour and aroma. Homemade Curd gives it a perfect taste. Creamy and luscious dish that is perfect with any Indian Bread or even some flavourful Rice like Pulao, Cumin Rice etc.
Easy and simple dish yet full of subtle flavours. The juicy and succulent white meat will make you crave for more and more. Marination plays an important role as well. Therefore don't forget to give it a standing time of atleast an hour or two. Or better still overnight too. If you are not in a hurry, do give it a good marination time. I didn't marinate it this time.
It looks awesome in terms of colour. Tempting and absolutely delicious as well. It's almost a weekly feature on my menu card for my lovely family.
The preparation of this dish differs in every household and so does mine too. Do give it a thumbs-up if you try it and like it.
Let's get started right away.

Steps
- 1
Wash the chicken bone-in pieces thoroughly before proceeding with the actual recipe. Drain well. Marinate it with half of salt and ginger garlic green chilli paste. Reserve the other half of salt for the gravy. Leave it on the counter for about an hour or so. If you have less time on hand, proceed with the next step of the recipe right away.
- 2
Heat oil and saute the whole spices first. After a few seconds, add the chicken that has been marinated with the ginger garlic green chilli paste. Fry this for a few minutes on a medium high heat. Keep an eye on it and keep stirring it as required. Now add finely chopped tomatoes to it after about 15 minutes. Or blend all later on for a nice gravy. Mix well. Allow it to simmer on a low heat.
- 3
In the meantime, add all the powdered spices to the curd and beat it well. Add this to the Chicken and keep simmering on a low to medium high heat for the next 20 minutes. Keep checking in between. Do not add water. Add Green chillies, garam masala and chopped Coriander plus mint Leaves too. Cover and cook until the gravy dries up a bit. The consistency is usually thick. It depends upon one's own choice.
- 4
Serve this piping hot with Naans, Chapatis or Parathas. It goes well with Phulkas and Pulao too. I usually serve it with Rumaali Rotis. Enjoy!
