Detroit Pizza or popularly known as Rectangular Pizza is a well known one developed during the mid twentieth century in Detroit of the United States. It's also known as Detroit style Square popular for it's rectangular shape, crisp and airy dough and an amazingly delicious and delightful crunch. I made this for a Dinner party at home. In this particular popular version of the Pizza, i have used just the Vegetables and kept it purely Vegetarian. The rest of the process remains similar to that of a normal Pizza. Beautiful looks and Cheesylicious to the last bite. A perfect main course for any private party, it will be a sure shot hit. You will just love it's awesome and melt in mouth texture. Though this one is a Veg Pizza, Non-Veg version is also equally awesome.

It's made at home right from the scratch. Therefore it's pure and fresh. And above all hygienic and safe.
Homemade is always a good idea. Nothing can ever beat this.

Enjoy Baking with Zeen!

Steps

35-40 minutes
  1. 1

Add Sugar and Yeast to warm Milk and mix lightly. Use extra if required. Or can use water as well if at all needed.

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, add the Flour, Salt and the Olive oil. Now add this proved Yeast mix to the flour and make a smooth dough out of it. Knead this dough until it's smooth and apply a few drops of Oil to it and cover it up with a cling wrap and leave it in a dark place in your kitchen to double up in volume for about 2 hours.

  3. 3

Meanwhile, cut the Veggies and keep aside. Next take out the dough and punch it down once to release the air. This dough makes one large Pizza. When the dough is done, divide it into two portions. Roll out each portion ensuring the thickness to be at least half an inch. Only that way, the bread will be fluffy. Let the Pizza base rest for about 15-18 minutes.

  4. 4

Spread out the sauce and bake these for 15-18 minutes. Just so that the bread is cooked half way through. Now add the Cheese and the toppings as per one's own choice. Sprinkle Chilli flakes on top. Now bake this in a preheated oven on 180° for 18 to 20 minutes or a little more. The final results depends on the oven temperature. So keep an eye after 15 minutes. After baked to perfection, it's all ready.

  5. 5

Slice and enjoy. Yum! Delicious homemade Family style Rectangular Veg Pizza is done in no time at all. Yum! Relish!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
