Ingredients

2-3 servings
  1. 1 cupSago Pearls
  2. 1/2 cupMoong Dal (pre roasted)
  3. 1/4 cupchopped Carrot
  4. 1/4 cupchopped Papaya
  5. 1/4 cupchopped Pumpkin
  6. 1/4 cupGreen Peas
  7. 3-4green chilli
  8. 4-5Cauliflower florets
  9. 1small Tomato
  10. 3-4Sweet Potato cubes
  11. 1 tspGrated Ginger
  12. 1Bay leaf
  13. 1dry red chilli
  14. 1 tspCumin seeds
  15. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  16. 1/4 tspCoriander powder
  17. 1/4 tspCumin powder
  18. Salt as required
  19. 2 tbspOil
  20. 1/2 tspGhee
  21. 2Cardamom
  22. 1/2 tspSugar

Steps

  1. 1

    Assemble ingredients, soak sago pearls for 5-6 hours and then keep in colander to drain excess water and make it dry.
    Soak Moong Dal for 4-5 hours and pressure cook to 80 %.

    Assemble ingredients

    80 % steam all vegetables and keep aside.

    In moderately heated pan / Kadhai add oil, add bay leaf + dry red chilli + cumin seeds + ginger and allow to crackle, then add sago pearls + little salt and sauté for 2 minutes.

    Add Turmeric + cumin powder + coriander powder + cardamom and sauté for another 2 minutes.

    Now add cooked Moong Dal along with water + all steamed veggies and mix gently. Add sugar also.

    Cook for 3-4 minutes but don’t dry much as after cooling it will dry more.
    Lastly add ghee and stir well. Switch off flame.

    Khichdi is done.

    Serve hot hot with Papad or Pickle and enjoy winters.
