Stewed Sweet Potatoes--All You Gotta Do is Stew

I watched Japanese celebrity fortune teller Kazuko Hosoki make this on TV the other day and it looked delicious, but the only ingredient I remembered was sake, so I came up with my own version.
I never used sake when stewing sweet potatoes before, so I was amazed at how it changed the favor.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Roughly chop the sweet potatoes into large chunks, put them in a pan with enough water to cover, add the sake, then heat over high heat.
- 2
Reduce to low heat once it comes to a boil, then add the remaining seasoning ingredients.
- 3
Simmer the sweet potatoes until tender, then serve.
- 4
User "Shunka-chan" ate the leftovers with yogurt. What a healthy idea!
- 5
Another way to eat the leftovers is to cut them up into smaller pieces and sauté them to a crisp golden-brown in butter. Sprinkle a little salt for even greater delight.

How hikers would source the chicken stock, brown sugar, vinegar etc. I don't know. Jeff Lynch -

Simmered Sweet Potatoes Simmered Sweet Potatoes
I wanted to eat sweet potatoes, so I thought of an easy way to prepare them.Depending on how you cut the potatoes, the cooking time may vary. So adjust the amount of water as you go.When the amount of water becomes low, occasionally turn over the potatoes or shake the pan. It's pretty sweet, so you can adjust the sugar to 2 tablespoons if you like. This time, I used butter flavored margarine♪ Recipe by Naonao1022 cookpad.japan -
Easy Sweet Potatoes Stewed in Orange Juice Easy Sweet Potatoes Stewed in Orange Juice
My father-in-law grows a lot of sweet potatoes.I generally stew them with the lemons that my father-in-law also grows, but I came up with this recipe after stewing them with some marmalade I had received. These are great as side dishes or little items to pack in lunches.I also recommend trying them as imo amanatto (candied sweet potatoes).Be careful not to overcook the sweet potatoes. You can also substitute marmalade for the orange juice. These also be transformed into imo amanatto, (candied sweet potatoes) by drying them and coating them in granulated sugar.Adjust the sweetness to taste.
