Dumplings 🥟 Momoos

Dumplings 🥟 or Momoos are balls of flour with stuffing of meat or vegetables. Whether steamed or fried , stuffed with prawns 🍤 fish 🐟 chicken 🍗 or meat , they taste heavenly.
Momoos are usually pan fried or steamed and use with soups. Serve with spicy chilli garlic chutney or spicy sauce in Nepal.
Dumplings 🥟 vary in size & shape. They can be boiled, simmered, steam , baked or fried.
Dim Sums 🥟 are very much similar to momoos. They’re served in Chinese cuisine with tea ☕️
In Japan it’s called Gyoza 🥟
In Korea it’s called Mandu 🥟
In India it’s called Gujiyas which are sweet dumplings 🥟 with khoya filling.

Steps

Combine flour, salt and warm water and mix until well combined. Roll out dough on floured surface & knead until smooth. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.

Roll out one piece of dough into thin log and divide into 4 pieces, depending upon the size of dumplings you want. Or you can roll out the whole dough very thinly & cut the desired size with cutter or glass. - 3

Lightly flour the dough piece into a thin circle. Keep the dumplings wrappers separated with parchment paper.

Combine chicken minced or chopped prawns with, garlic, salt, black pepper powder, green chilli, green oil & soya sauce.

To assemble dumplings 🥟 add 1 heaped tbsp of filling to the centre of the dumpling wrapper.

Apply little water with your fingers outside of the dumpling wrapper.

Pleat the edges of the wrapper with your fingers. I have made 7 different shapes.

Take oil in large frying pan, add few dumplings, cooking them in a batches. Once the bottom of the dumplings start to brown, add a splash of water and cover with a lid.

Steam for about 6 minutes then transfer the cooked dumplings 🥟 onto plate.

Dipping Sauce: Combine Soya Sauce, chilli oil or sesame oil, chilli flakes, vinegar & lemon 🍋 juice. For good aroma add a tsp of dry roasted sesame seeds too.

Serve the dumplings 🥟 immediately with the dipping sauce.
