Steps
- 1
Mix and soak both daals for at least 2-3 hours. Set aside.
- 2
Take a pan and add oil. Add chopped onions. When the onions start changing color, add chopped tomatoes.
- 3
When the tomatoes get mushy, add half of the green chillies, ginger garlic paste, and everything else except for: Salt, Whole garlic, Cumin seeds, Fresh Coriander, And as mentioned earlier only add half the green chillies here.
- 4
Now add the soaked daal to your mixture and bhunify it.
- 5
Add water and adjust consistency to whatever you like. Not thick or runny, but somewhere in the middle.
- 6
Cook on slow flame for about 30 minutes.
- 7
Use a whisker to blend the daal. Add more water if it is too dry.
- 8
Now add the salt, remaining green chillies, fresh coriander and cumin seeds.
We didn't add the salt earlier because then the daal would remained solid/raw or separate. - 9
Baghar:
In a fry pan, add ghee, garlic, zeera and cumin seeds and whole red chillies. Fry until golden and add to the daal. - 10
In a thaali or platter, serve daal with plain rice, fried samosa patti, pickled onion, achar and kebabs or whatever you like.
Enjoy.
