Halloween Ghosts for Salads

There was a salad that looked like this in a video game. I thought it was cute, so I made my own version.
The potato will shrink once it's microwaved, so I recommend you use large slices and large heart-shaped cutters that's just the right size for carving.
If you use a thick straw, the potato edges might fall apart, so I recommend you use a slightly thin straw.
Watch closely and make sure not to burn anything. Recipe by Marinmaron

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Peel the potato and slice thinly (about 1 to 2 mm thickness). Soak in water.
- 2
Cut into hearts using a cookie cutter. Use the curved edges and halve the heart, as seen above.
- 3
Bend the ends of a straw into ovals or triangles. Carve out the eyes to make cute or scary ghosts.
- 4
Use small cutters (as seen above) or a straw with altered ends to carve out the mouth.
- 5
Place on parchment paper and microwave for about 2 minutes until crusty. Top them on salads to finish.
- 6
Side note: the pumpkin-shaped carrots seen in the picture were made with microwaved sliced carrots. I chopped them into pumpkin-shapes and carved out the eyes and mouth using straw ends altered into triangles.
- 7
Because the carrots I used were large, I used a tapioca straw (a large one) to carve.

Kabocha Squash Ghoul Salad Kabocha Squash Ghoul Salad
I came up with this idea thinking it'd be fun to attach eyes to a Mont Blanc. Since it'd be too commonplace to make them desserts, I made them into single servings of salad. If you don't have a food processor, mash the kabocha with a potato masher and evenly stir in the seasoning ingredients with a spatula. For the decorating tip, I used a Mont Blanc cake nozzle, but you can improvise with whatever you have on hand. Gnocchi Salad Gnocchi Salad
It's been 7-8 years since I had this gnocchi salad at an Italian restaurant, and it's become one of my favorite dishes ever since.I started by making them similar to potato mochi.I found a recipe for pesto on COOKPAD, but can't recall whose recipe it is. My apologies.I shaped them like shiratama dumplings, but you can also roll them into a log and cut them like icebox cookies. The imprint of the fork helps the dressing coat the gnocchi, but it's not necessary. Recipe by mielle cookpad.japan -
Colorful Christmas Tree Salad Colorful Christmas Tree Salad
I've always wanted to make a Christmas tree out of potato salad and I wanted to make a cute, memorable salad.Just have fun decorating the salad any way you like. For the star on top, you can secure with a toothpick or an uncooked spaghetti strand (but only use pasta if you're eating it right away because it will soften over time). This salad looks nice served on a big plate with hors d'oeuvres. Recipe by cocococoa cookpad.japan -
