Ingredients

8-10 servings
  • 1 (9 inch)deep-dish pie crust
  • 3/4 cupssugar
  • 1/3 cupsunsweetened cocoa
  • 2 tablespoonsflour
  • 1/4 cupsbutter
  • 1/3 cupsmilk
  • 2eggs (beaten)
  • 1 (21 ounce)can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (9 ounce)container whipped topping (thawed)
  • 1 (1 ounce)square unsweetened chocolate (coarsely grated)

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350° F

  2. 2

    In saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, and flour

  3. 3

    Add margarine and milk

  4. 4

    Cook until mixture begins to boil, stirring constantly

  5. 5

    Remove from heat

  6. 6

    Add a small amount of hot mixture to eggs and combine

  7. 7

    Return mixture to pan

  8. 8

    Fold half can of pie filling into mixture

  9. 9

    Pour into pie crust

  10. 10

    Bake at 350° F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until center is set, but still shiny

  11. 11

    Cool

  12. 12

    Chill for 1 hour

  13. 13

    Combine 2 cups whipped topping and grated chocolate

  14. 14

    Spread over cooled pie

  15. 15

    Combine remaining pie filling with remaining whipped topping

  16. 16

    Top pie with cherry whipped topping mixture

  17. 17

    Chill 1/2 hour
