Peanut Butter Cookies

I often find myself lost in thought while baking, and I remember you.
Those days felt like white flowers blooming in my heart.
You were the kind of man who was loyal to a fault. Did you ever realize that the tree you planted by the porch died, yet you still held onto the pot of soil in the corner of the room and never planted anything else?
My youth was you. So what was your youth?
We walked together
We shared endless stories
We walked under the youth of my life.
Once you said, "Let's live together when we're old." Your eyes were so serious, and I stayed silent. I understood why. We will always be a peaceful silence in each other's hearts, forever.
Now, I don't know where you are, truly. You don't know either since the last time we spoke. I'm at peace, and that's enough.
That time you asked if I would just leave like that. I just smiled, and even silence wasn't enough to answer that question.
Do you know about the thread? Not silk, but the kind that gets caught between leaves, and then it breaks.
Everyone has someone in their life without a clear name or deep love, but there are years dedicated only to that person.
Then it passes, it must pass, without regret, without holding on. We touch lightly one last time and go, both you and I understand, feeling fulfilled for having given enough to each other in life.
