These are super simple to make and once you have a donut pan to bake with, the flavor possibilities are endless. I got mine at Walmart, for about $6, but you can also find them for about the same price on Amazon. I've found this amazing recipe from one of my favorite bloggers and it's now my go to recipe for different variations of baked donuts. Recipe adapted from: Sallysbakingaddiction.com

Ingredients

8 donuts
  1. For The Donuts:
  2. 1 cupall purpose flour
  3. 1 tsp.baking powder
  4. 1/4 tsp.baking soda
  5. 1/2 tsp.salt
  6. 1/2 tsp.ground cinnamon
  7. 1/4 tsp.ground nutmeg
  8. 1large egg, at room temperature
  9. 1/3 cuplight brown sugar
  10. 1/4 cupmilk, at room temperature (any kind works)
  11. 1/4 cupplain yogurt or sour cream, at room temperature
  12. 2 tbsp.unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  13. 1 1/2 tsp.vanilla extract
  14. For The Coating :
  15. 1/2 cupgranulated sugar
  16. 1/2 tsp.ground cinnamon
  17. 2-3 tbsp.unsalted butter, melted

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray the donut pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a seperate, medium bowl, whisk together the egg, brown sugar, milk and yogurt (or sour cream). Then whisk in the melted butter and vanilla extract.

  4. 4

Pour the wet ingredients I to the dry and mix until just combined. Do not over mix. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan. Per the recipes recommendation, I placed the batter into a large Ziploc bag, cut a hole at one corner and piped the batter into the donut cavities. Fill no more than 3/4 of the way full with batter.

  5. 5

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until just beginning to brown around the edges. Once done, let them sit in the pans for 2 minutes, then move the donuts into a wire rack to cool. This recipe makes 8 donuts but the pan only makes 6 at a time, so go ahead and pipe the remaining batter into the donut pans and repeat the baking process.

  6. 6

Allow to cool enough to handle before coating them.

  7. 7

To coat, combine the ground cinnamon and the sugar together in a shallow bowl. Brush the donuts with the melted butter using a pastry brush, then dip them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. You could do either just the top or all around the donut.

  8. 8

Store leftover donuts covered at room temperature for up to 2 days.

I love to bake and to try out new recipes! I'm always on the lookout for simple dinners for busy weeknights. A lot of the recipes I post on here are ones I've found on Pinterest or from different bloggers, and that I've tried and really enjoyed, but I always reference to where I got the recipe from in the recipe description and the pictures are my own. If there's no source listed, then it's a rare recipe that I came up with. I have two wonderful kids and I hope to pass on my love of cooking and baking to them.
