Vrat (Fasting) Special Recipe samak ke chawal (barnyard millet) ki khichdi

In a frying pan, add ghee. Now add jeera, Asafoetida, curry leaves and saute it well. Now add diced potatoes to it.

Fry the mixture well. Add salt, red chilli powder, sliced green chilli. Now add the rinsed samak ke chawal to the pan.

Keep sauting it well till the rice get midly roasted. Now add water to a pressure cooker and let it boil. Now add the rice and keep the lid closed for 5-7 minutes. Make sure enough water is added to the cooker.

Once cooked, the khichdi is ready to be served with raita.
