Ingredients

  • 4fish pieces 🐠
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper corns
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  • 3/4 tspblack pepper powder or to taste
  • Salt to taste 🧂
  • 1/4 tsppaprika powder 🌶️
  • 1/2 tspcoriander powder
  • 2 tbspfinely chopped onion 🧅
  • 2 tbspginger garlic paste 🫚🧄
  • 1 tbspgreen chillies paste
  • 1/4 tspgaram masala powder
  • 2 sprigsrosemary 🌹 🌱
  • 1 tbspfinely chopped coriander leaves 🌿
  • 1/2 tspdry mixed herbs 🌱
  • Few drops of lemon juice 🍋
  • 2-3 tbspoil + oil for shallow frying
  • 1/4 cupwater 💦
  • For marinade:
  • 2 tbsplemon juice 🍋
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/4 tspcoriander powder
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder 🌶️
  • 1/4 tsppaprika powder 🌶️
  • 1/4 tspsalt 🧂
  • For serving: onion rings 🧅, if you desired or if you want you may sprinkle more lemon juice 🍋

    For marinade: in a bowl 🥣 add lemon juice 🍋, turmeric powder, red chilli powder 🌶️, paprika powder 🌶️, coriander powder and salt 🧂 mix well, pat dry the fish pieces 🐠, arrange them in a bowl 🥣 pour the marinade on the fish pieces 🐠, mix with your spoon and set aside for 15 min.

    Shallow fry the marinade fish pieces 🐠 on medium heat, when 1/2 % done remove from oil, keep aside.in separate pan add 1-2 tbsp oil, add cumin seeds when starts to crackle, add black pepper corn, stir and add finely chopped onion 🧅, cook for 1 min, add ginger garlic paste 🧄, green chillies paste and mix well, cook for another 1 min.

    Add black pepper powder, coriander powder, paprika powder 🌶️, salt 🧂 and mix well cook for 1 min, add add rosemary 🌱, dry mixed herbs🌱 and mix well, add water 💦 and finally garam masala powder mix well, let it boil for a few mins, when gravy becomes thick add fried fish pieces 🐠, cook first side in the gravy, then turn and cook another side or till the fish pieces are cooked. Finally add few drops of lemon juice 🍋 on top and mix gently.

    Remove and add in serving plate and serve with onion rings 🧅 and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves 🌿.

    Note: make thick and dry gravy, for better taste, don't make thin gravy in this recipe.
