A menu item from a kushikatsu (fried skewers) restaurant.

Expanding the kushikatsu menu.
Steps

Tear the cheese into strips and stuff them inside the chikuwa.

Cut each chikuwa into 3 equal pieces and insert a skewer into each piece. Lightly coat with tapioca starch and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Dip each piece in beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.

Fry in oil at 340°F (170°C) until golden brown.
