Ingredients

15 minutes
2 peoples
  • 1 cupcooked rice
  • For spice powder:
  • 3 tbspblack sesame seeds
  • 1 tbspchana dal
  • 1 tbspurad dal
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 tsppepper corns
  • 6dry red chillies
  • 1small gooseberry size tamarind
  • For ellu sadam/ sesame rice
  • 2 tbspsesame seed oil
  • 1 tspmustard seeds
  • 1 tspchana dal
  • 1 tspurad dal
  • 2 tbsppeanuts
  • 1sting curry leaves
  • 1/4 tspasafoetida powder
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 3Dry red chillies

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat a pan and add the chana dal, urad dal, pepper, cumin seeds, and dried chilies, tamarind and fry them well...

    Now add the sesame seeds will start popping At this stage switch off the flame... Let cool all the ingredients...

    Now, grind to a coarse powder. The powder should not be too smooth.
    Our Ellu Podi is now ready.

    Heat a pan with cold-pressed peanut oil. add the mustard seeds, red chillies, curry leaves.. When the mustard seeds begin to pop, add the urad dal and chana dal, peanuts along with asafoetida...

    Now add 2tbsp ellu podi, cooked rice, salt and mix well but gently.
