Steps

15–17 mins
  1. 1

Slice the Meat. Cut the beef, goat, or camel meat into very thin slices so it cooks quickly and stays tender.

  2. 2

Heat the Oil. Place a frying pan on medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.

  3. 3

Cook the Onions. Add the sliced onions and fry for about 2–3 minutes until soft and slightly golden.
Add Garlic and Ginger. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Season the Meat. Add salt and black pepper (and cumin if using). Mix well so the spices coat the meat evenly.

  5. 5

Add Optional Vegetables: Add sliced green pepper and diced tomato if desired. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.

  6. 6

Serve Hot: Remove from heat, garnish with fresh coriander, and serve immediately with rice, pasta, or Somali bread.

  7. 7

Add the Meat. Put the thinly sliced meat into the pan and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently.
