Ingredients

  1. 6eggs
  2. 1 cansweetened condensed milk
  3. 1 canevaporated milk
  4. 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
  5. 1 cupsugar (for the caramel)
  6. 1 package (6.7 oz)or 190 grams) cream cheese
  7. Cajeta (Mexican caramel sauce, optional)

  1. 1

    Blend the 6 eggs, sweetened condensed milk, cream cheese, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.

  2. 2

    In a skillet, add the cup of sugar. Stir occasionally until it melts and turns a golden color. (Be careful not to overcook, as burnt caramel will taste bitter.)

  3. 3

    Pour the caramel (you can also add cajeta if you like) into a heatproof baking dish, tilting to cover the bottom evenly. Then pour in the egg and milk mixture.

  4. 4

    Bake at 350°F (180°C) until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  5. 5

    You can also cook it on the stovetop using a water bath (bain-marie).

  6. 6

    Let the flan cool completely before removing from the dish, or it may fall apart.

  7. 7

    Enjoy this delicious dessert with your loved ones.
