Name: Sweet n sour sauce (base recipe)

Ingredients: 1 liter veg or chicken stock; 1/3 cup light soy sauce; 1 cup ketchup; 1 tbsp cider viniger; 1/2 cup orange juice; 5 star anise; 1 tsp minced garlic; 1 tsp crushed ginger; 1/2 shredded carrot; 2 tbsp light soft brown sugar; 1 tsp dry chilli flakes; 1/2 tsp 5 spice; 1 small sweet pepper, sliced; 1 cornflour to thicken (optional, see steps)

Add Cooksnap

1 literveg or chicken stock
1/3 cuplight soy sauce
1 cupketchup
1 tbspcider viniger
1/2 cuporange juice
5star anise
1 tspminced garlic
1 tspcrushed ginger
1/2shredded carrot
2 tbsplight soft brown sugar
1 tspdry chilli flakes
1/2 tsp5 spice
1small sweet pepper, sliced
1cornflour to thicken (optional, see steps)

Cooking Instructions

Chuck all in a sauce pan one at a time stirring to the boil.

Either reduce to consistency, or thicken with corn flour. (reducing gives stronger flavour)

Remove star anise before serving.

REMEMBER MY TITLE SAYS BASE!!, I normally play not weigh, so I've increased the amount I've made and tried to weigh as I went, make your own tweeks to suit your tastes. Pineapple goes well as an additional sweetener.
