I keep seeing all these fancy intricate recipies for goulash...which at its heart isn't real goulash ...Hungarian goulash is a dish born in times of hardship, fancy ingredients would not have been on hand. The people of villages would gather together with what they had to make what they could. Usually a traditional goulash is simply going to be meat usually beef or mutton, what ever veggies were on hand and egg noodles ( cheap and easy to make). Sure it's a humble dish but a tasty one and cheap to make
