Ingredients

  1. 1 lbground beef
  2. 1 lbItalian sausage
  3. 1onion, chopped
  4. 3 clovegarlic, minced
  5. 1 cancanellini beans (great white northern)
  6. 2 candiced tomatoes
  7. 1 cantomato paste
  8. 1 bunchItalian parsley, chopped
  9. 2 tbspgarlic salt
  10. 3 tbspItalian seasoning
  11. 2 tbspsugar
  12. 2 tbsporegano
  13. 1 tsppaprika
  14. 1polenta, I use Bob's Red Mill
  15. 1fresh grated Parmesan
  16. 1 cupParmesan, grated

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Make polenta per package instructions.

  2. 2

While polenta is being prepared, brown hamburger and Italian sausage with onion and garlic in a large pot or Dutch oven.

  3. 3

Drain excess fat from meat mixture.

  4. 4

Add beans and mix well. Then add both cans of diced tomatoes. I use the basil, oregano, and garlic kind. Heat thoroughly.

  5. 5

Add tomato paste and seasonings (you can use whatever amount and kind you prefer. I estimated my amounts, as I season and taste constantly until I reach the flavor I like).

  6. 6

Once polenta is nearly done add grated Parmesan cheese to mixture and mix well.

  7. 7

Pour meat mixture in casserole dish and pour polenta over that, making sure to completely cover meat mixture.

  8. 8

Place in 365 preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until polenta is nicely baked.

  9. 9

Serve in bowls with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

This was very good and worked out well. I neglected to drain out grease and regretted it.
