Cooking Instructions
- 1
Pour powdered sugar onto a small cookie sheet or flat pan and pat flat with a spoon to create a bed for your candy as it cools. Set aside for later.
- 2
Mix sugar and corn syrup in microwave safe bowl
- 3
Microwave for 30 seconds
- 4
Stir mixture then microwave another 30 seconds
- 5
Stir again to ensure completely mixed and microwave for 45 seconds.
- 6
Remove from microwave and stir until its no longer bubbling. This next step is time sensitive. If you wait too long then it will harden in the bowl but if you are too fast then you could cause the extract and food coloring to sizzle causing burns or a speckled dyed shirt or countertop.
- 7
Add extract and a drop to three drops of food coloring to your bowl and mix well.
- 8
Pour onto your sugar bed and allow to cool in freezer or on countertop till hardened.
- 9
Using a spoon or the back of a butter knife, gently tap the hard candy till you have pieces small enough to your liking.
- 10
Dust pieces with powdered sugar and you are done!
- 11
Enjoy!

[Farmhouse Recipe] Caramelized Hard Candy Coated Sweet Potatoes [Farmhouse Recipe] Caramelized Hard Candy Coated Sweet Potatoes
I thought that daigaku-imo would be delicious with a caramelized coating, and it was better than I imagined. ☆If you heat sugar with water, the sugar will melt and become liquid in 3 minutes, and it'll crystallize in 5 minutes. But if you wait longer, the sugar will start to cook and turn color in 6 minutes. The crunchy sugar coating melts by the next day, so eat this as soon as possible! Recipe by FarmersK cookpad.japan -
