Carne Guisada

A Texas favorite. Simple and delicious. It practically cooks itself.
Carne Guisada
A Texas favorite. Simple and delicious. It practically cooks itself.
Steps
- 1
Bring pot of water to boil.
- 2
Sprinkle meat with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, and flour. Mix well.
- 3
Add 3 tbsp of vegetable oil to a separate pot. Cook meat over medium heat until all sides are browned.
- 4
Add boiling water, covering meat, to top of pot. Cover and simmer for 1- 2 hours. Check meat regularly for tenderness and if water needs to be added.
- 5
Sauce can be thickened by adding flour. I also add chili pepper and a little tomato sauce to give it a red color.
