My children's grandparents have citrus trees in their yard, so we currently have an abundance of lemons, limes, grapefruit and oranges. Fresh lemonade is a favorite in our house.

Ingredients

  1. Simple Syrup :
  2. 2 cupswater
  3. 2 cupsgranulated sugar
  4. Lemonade :
  5. 1 batchsimple syrup (above recipe)
  6. 1 cuplemon juice, freshly squeezed preferred
  7. 5 1/2 cupscold water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Start by making the simple syrup. Place the 2 cups sugar in a medium saucepan with the 2 cups water. Set the heat to medium and stir fairly often until the sugar is completely dissolved. Then set the pan aside for it to cool.

  2. 2

In a large pitcher, stir together the simple syrup, lemon juice and additional cold water.

  3. 3

Let it chill in the fridge prior to serving or just serve immediately over ice.

  4. 4

    That's it. Simple and delicious!

  5. 5

On a side note, if you like your lemonade more on the tart side (we like it sweet) then either cut the simple syrup recipe in half or you can use only half the original batch and store the other half in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Its great to mix into tea, coffee or cocktails.

I love to bake and to try out new recipes! I'm always on the lookout for simple dinners for busy weeknights. A lot of the recipes I post on here are ones I've found on Pinterest or from different bloggers, and that I've tried and really enjoyed, but I always reference to where I got the recipe from in the recipe description and the pictures are my own. If there's no source listed, then it's a rare recipe that I came up with. I have two wonderful kids and I hope to pass on my love of cooking and baking to them.
