Cooking Instructions
- 1
preheat oven to 350
- 2
cook ground meat
- 3
cook ziti until tender
- 4
chop and combine onion, mushrooms, ground meat, crushed tomatoes, garlic, and seasonings and let simmer in a small pan.
- 5
slice mozzarella into about 16 even pieces
- 6
I n a 9 x 13 baking stone or dish scoop out 1/3 of simmering sauce until the bottom of the dish is lightly covered. Then apply a layer of ziti, on top of that layer the 16 slices of mozzarella. The next layer is 1/3 of marinara combination, then spread the ricotta cheese over the sauce using a rubber spatula. The final layer is ziti, the rest of the sauce combination, and then the extra plain sauce on top of that. Then you top it off with the shredded cheese.

Cover with tin foil and place in the oven for 35 min. Remove foil and cook for another 15 min.

Baked Ziti Baked Ziti
This is one of my families favorite meals. It seems like a lot of steps, but it all comes together fairly easily. I've tweaked this recipe from what I originally posted, because of changing up the way we eat, but it's still a fairly uncomplicated, from scratch recipe. This recipe makes alot, so you could cut the recipe in half for a smaller serving size...we usually just make the big batch so we have leftovers to snack on or have for lunch in upcoming days. You could also prepare it into two smaller pans, then freeze one and bake one. Christina -

Baked Ziti Baked Ziti
This is a foolproof recipe for hearty, homestyle baked ziti that tastes great whether you eat it straight out of the oven or reheated. As with any recipe, customize to your tastes. For example, you can mix in pepperoni to add a nice flavor. I use homemade sauce (I have a recipe for that too ☺️), but you can use your favorite brand. Also, this is a large pan, so you can always halve the recipe. Kat -
