Steps
- 1
Makes 2 loaves
- 2
Mix 1/4 cup water,1/2 pkg yeast and sugar. Set aside.
- 3
Mix 2 cups of flour and remaining ingredients using your dough hooks or paddle attachment.
- 4
When mixed thoroughly, begin to add remaining flour. When you get a smooth shiny dough ball. Transfer to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damp warm towel, and allow to rise doubled in volume.
- 5
When doubled, turn on to a lightly floured surface, divide into two halves. Form into loaves, and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Cover again with a warm damp towel, allow to rise until doubled again.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Put 3 slices on the top of your loaves and bake 20 to 30 minutes. Bread will done when you thump it and it sounds hollow. Allow to cool on a wire racks.
- 7
Onion powder is an excellent substitute for salt. If, like me, you're on a low sodium diet, you will find this a great alternative.
