I'm having a huge party and need lots of flavors of croutons to go with the meal and its cheaper to make them using old stale bread we aren't eating. So I have been making croutons like mad! Here is one type. Check my profile for more flavors! More coming soon!

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 tbspjarred minced garlic
  2. 8 cupplain rye bread cubes (preferrably stale)
  3. 2 tbspolive oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F

  2. 2

Line baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

  3. 3

In a very large skillet place oil and garlic. Heat until hot.

  4. 4

Toss in bread cubes, toss around to coat.

  5. 5

Saute cubes about 3-5 minutes tossing frequently until lightly browned.

  6. 6

Place cubes in a single layer onto prepared baking sheet.

  7. 7

Bake 25-30 minutes tossing cubes every 5 minutes or so until cubes are to desired crispness. ( my bread wasn't stale so mine took longer.) Time may vary depending on size of your bread cubes.

  8. 8

Let cool completely and serve or store in an airtight container.

  9. 9

    Enjoy!

  10. 10

Makes about 4 cups dried cubes.
