Ingredients

  1. 1 cupcooked rice
  2. 1 1/2 tablespoontamarind paste
  3. 1/2 teaspooncummin seeds
  4. 1/2 teaspoonmustard seeds
  5. 1onion finally chopped
  6. 8-10curry leaves
  7. 1 tablespoonred chilli powder
  8. 1/4 teaspoonturmeric powder
  9. 1/4 teaspooncoriander powder
  10. 1 tablespoonground nuts
  11. 1 tablespoonurad dal
  12. 2 tablespoonoil

Steps

  1. 1

    First cook the rice and keep aside. The rice should be on room temperature

  2. 2

    In a kadai add oil, then ground nuts fry for a minute

  3. 3

    Add urad dal to it

  4. 4

    Now add cummin seeds and mustard seeds let it crackle

  5. 5

    Now add chopped onion and saute

  6. 6

    Add turmeric powder, chilli powder,coriander powder and salt

  7. 7

    Time to add tamarind paste

  8. 8

    Mix and cook well

  9. 9

    Finally add cooked rice and mix gently.

  10. 10

    Tamarind rice is ready to serve with roasted papad and kuchumber.
