Bread flour doesn't need to be sifted, so this one step can be omitted. On the other hand, if you replace the bread flour with cake flour and follow the exact same steps (except for adding an additional step of sifting the cake flour), you can turn this into a quasi-sponge cake. Have you noticed the shrinkage of boxed cake mix in the last 10 years from 18.25 ounces to the current 15.25 ounces. It affects my recipes. My cakes weren’t as good. I found you can add texture back to your cake and have less shrinkage by adding 6 tablespoons of all purpose flour to the box mix and whisk it together.

This butter cake is easy to make and delicious. You can use any flavor or just stick with the classic vanilla. It's rich, delicate and absolutely perfect. You only need a small piece as it's very decadent.

#CA2025 I was making a birthday cake and needed a box of yellow cake mix. No yellow cake mix and it is pouring rain so I’m not going out. Yellow cake recipe to the rescue and it is a winner. I wanted a three layer cake and I am not so good with horizontal cutting so I divided the mix to three pans and cut bake time to 18 minutes.

Delicious, not sweet, taste very strong chocolate!!!
