Ingredients

  1. For making daal
  2. 1 cup chana daal
  3. 2 green chillies
  4. 8 to 10 curry leaves(optional)
  5. 1 teaspoon cumin
  6. 1 pinch asafoetida
  7. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  8. 1 teaspoon. dry mango powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoon. cinnamon & blackpepper
  10. Tejpatta
  11. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  12. Salt as required
  13. 1 to 1.5 tablespoon. oil or ghee
  14. for making pakwaan
  15. 1 cup plain floor
  16. 1 cup rawa
  17. 1 cup besan
  18. 1 tablespoon. ghee
  19. 1/2 teaspoon. ajwain
  20. . Salt to taste
  21. . Oil for deep frying

Steps

  1. 1

    1)For making pakwaan we need to combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl knead in to a firm dough using enough water. 2) Divide the dough into equal portions.3) Roll a portion of the dough circle and prick it with a fork.4) Heat the oil in a deep kadhaai and fry it on a medium flame till it turn crisp and golden brown in colour from both the side.

    Making of daal

    Rinse and soak the chana daal in water for almost 4 hour.

    Drain and keep aside

  5. 5

    In a pressure cooker, take daal and 2 to 2.5 cup water,salt,turmeric powder, pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles keep the daal aside

  6. 6

    In another pan heat oil or ghee when the seed crackle add the green chilli, garam masala,black pepper & dry mango powder.

  7. 7

    Now put the cooked chana daal and a bit salt mix well and cook it on a medium flame for 2 to 3 mins. While stir occasionally.

    Stir and serve the steaming hot daal with chopped onion and pakwaan.
