Ingredients

1unbaked pie crust
1 cupboiling water
1/2 cupmolasses
1 tspbaking soda
1/2 cupshortening
1 1/2 cupflour
3/4 cupsugar

Steps

Mix water and molasses. Add baking soda. Set aside.

Mix shortening, flour and sugar to make the crumbs.

Pour some of liquid into crust. Add layer of crumbs. Repeat to fill crust.

Bake at 400 for 10 minutes. Decrease to 325 and bake for another 30 minutes.
