Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 lbtagliatelle or linguine
  2. 3 tbspolive oil
  3. 1 mediumonion, chopped
  4. 2 clovegarlic, minced
  5. 2 tbspbutter
  6. 5 ozthick-sliced smoked ham, trimmed of fat and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  7. 1 cupcooked thawed frozen peas
  8. 1/4 tspsalt
  9. 1/4 tsponly 1/8 tsp black pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add pasta and cook according to package directions.

  2. 2

    Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup of pasta water and return pasta to the pot

  3. 3

    Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.

  4. 4

    Add onion and garlic, cook until onion is translucent, about 3 min.

  5. 5

    Add butter, ham and peas; cook, stirring occasionally until heated through, about 3 min more.

  6. 6

    Reduce heat to very low.

  7. 7

    Add sauce, salt and pepper to the pasta.

  8. 8

    Toss adding enough pasta water to make a light sauce.
