In a bowl, whisk together all the dough ingredients except the flour and baking powder. Add the flour and baking powder last, mixing gently just until combined—do not overmix.

For the filling, peel and grate the apples, then squeeze them well in a towel to remove excess liquid. Place the apples in a bowl and mix with the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. (You can also add walnuts if you like.)

Grease and flour a springform cake pan. Spread half the dough evenly on the bottom with your hands. Add the filling on top, then crumble the remaining dough over the filling to cover it. Bake in a preheated oven at 320°F (160°C) for 40-50 minutes. For best results, bake on the highest oven rack with the fan setting.

Tip: Let the pie rest for 1 hour after baking so it doesn't fall apart. Serve with powdered sugar on top! Good luck to everyone!
