A traditional Hyderabadi dessert prepared to sweeten up celebrations and special occasions. The original recipe uses nuts after peeling them, but I like to use them the way they are.

Steps

Slice the bananas and keep the remaining ingredients ready

Bring the milk to boil in a heavy bottom pan
- 3
As it boils, reduce heat and add the condensed milk
- 4
Keep boiling on Low heat as the milk reduces and thickens
- 5
In the meanwhile, sauté the slivered nuts using ghee and keep aside
- 6
As the milk is visibly thick, as the chopped bananas and mix
- 7
Continue boiling while stirring occasionally

As the bananas soften, mash them a bit(optional)
- 9
Take off heat once the mix comes to a kheer/payasam consistency
- 10
Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with sautéed nuts
- 11
Let cool completely and refrigerate before serving
