This is a very tasty dessert made with semolina ,scraped coconut and kheer and made mostly during Poush Sankranti but it can also be made on other occasions. These pulis are immersed in a bowl of kheer made either with sugar or date palm jaggery ( khejur or patali gur)
Steps
- 1
Pour ghee in a non stick pan and lightly toss the sooji.Add coconut paste,1 tbsp milk and little sugar.Form into a lump.Make small cylindrical pulis and set aside.
- 2
Meanwhile boil milk till half the quantity.Add khoya or milk powder.Add crushed palm jaggery and boil till gur dissolves. If using sugar, chopped pistachios, almonds, crushed cardamom can be used for garnishing.Patali gur has it's own flavour so garnishing can be omitted.
- 3
When the kheer is almost done dip the pulis in it and give it a boil.Add 1 tsp cornflour paste (optional) to get a thick kheer.
- 4
Serve chilled.
