Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cuptoovar dal
  2. 3-4 tablespoonoil
  3. 1 teaspoonmustard seeds
  4. 1 teaspooncarrom seeds (ajwain)
  5. 1 pinchasafoetida
  6. as neededcurry leaves
  7. 2dry red chillies
  8. 3 tablespoonraw peanuts
  9. to tasteSalt
  10. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  11. 1 tablespoonred chilli powder
  12. 1 tablespooncoriander and cumin powder
  13. 3 tablespoonjaggery
  14. 1lemon
  15. as neededCoriander leaves for garnish
  16. For dough
  17. 2 cupswheat flour
  18. to tasteSalt
  19. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  20. 1 tablespoonred chilli powder
  21. 1/2 teaspooncarrom seeds
  22. 4-5 teaspoonoil

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak toovar dal in water for 15-20 minutes. Then boil in pressure cooker. Blend with enough water.

    Knead dough with ingredients mentioned in "for dough" with enough water. Make big balls, flatten them and roll out big rotis. Cut into squares.

    In a vessel heat oil. Add mustard seeds and carrom seeds. When crackles add asafoetida, dry red chillies and curry leaves.

    Add blended daland enough water. Add salt, turmeric powder red chilli powder and dhania jeera powder. Add raw peanuts. Mix well and allow it to boil.

    Add dhokli pieces. Cover with lid and allow it to cook on low flame. When it is well cooked add jaggery and lemon juice. Cook for couple of minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
