Red Velvet Modak

Modak is very popular festive dish in India specially in Maharashtra. Generally Modaks are offered during Ganapati festival. Traditionally Modaks are made with rice flour and coconut filling. But now a days different varieties of Modaks are being popular among people. So I made this special Red velvet Modak with red velvet cake and cream cheese filling. It's really very easy and scrumptious Modaks.

But now a days different varieties of Modaks are being popular among people. So I made this special Red velvet Modak with red velvet cake and cream cheese filling. It's really very easy and scrumptious Modaks.
Steps

In a mixing bowl add sugar and vegetable oil.

Blend with a hand blender to incorporate.

Sieve together flour, baking powder and cocoa powder.

Take 1 cup of buttermilk.

Add food colour.

Mix well to incorporate the colour to the buttermilk.

Add this mixture to the sugar and oil mixture.

Blend well to incorporate everything.

Add flour mixture to the red mixture.

Mix well to with cut and fold method.

Pre heat oven at 180 degree Centigrade for 10 minutes.

Grease and line a 7 inch diameter round baking dish.

Pour the batter in this baking dish.

Bake the cake in the pre heated oven for about 40 minutes or till a inserted toothpick comes out clean from the baked cake.

When the cake is done take out from the oven and keep 10 minutes to cool.

After 10 minutes de mould the cake and keep some more time to cool.

Crumble the cake to make soft dough again.

Now take lime size portion of the dough and make a patty with cavity with the help of your palm and fingers.

Scoop a teaspoon of prepared cream cheese filling to the cavity.

Now accumulate the edges to the centre by pressing with your fingers.

Make Modak shape with the fingers.

Like this make all the modaks.

Beautiful red velvet Modaks are now ready to offer.

You can serve them with cream cheese dip.

For that add 2 tablespoon of milk to the remaining cream cheese filling. Mix well to make a thick dip.

If you have Modak mould then you can make the shape nicely.
