Spicy Almonds

How can I translate a Japanese word ‘Otsumami’ into English? It is not ‘Appetiser’ or ‘Snack’. ‘Otsumami’ is something to nibble often with a drink, which is most likely an alcoholic drink. The other day I needed to make ‘Otsumami’ for an unexpected occasion, and this quick & easy ‘Spicy Almonds’ was perfect.

Steps

5 minutes
  1. 1

Combine all the Seasoning ingredients in a small bowl.

  2. 2

Place Olive Oil and Roasted Almonds in a frying pan, and heat over medium heat, tossing occasionally, for a few minutes. As Roasted Almonds are already cooked, you just need to heat them.

  3. 3

*Note: If you use Raw Almonds, you need to cook them until aromatic, so that Almonds turn crunchy when cooled.

  4. 4

Add the seasoning and coat the Almonds. Place paper towel on a plate, spread the almonds on the paper towel, and cool completely.
