Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupsolid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cupbutter or margarine
  • 1 tspvanilla
  • 4 cupsconfectioners (icing) sugar
  • 4 tbspmilk

Steps

  1. 1

    In a large bowl, cream butter and shortening with electric mixer

  2. 2

    Add vanilla

  3. 3

    Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed; scraping the bottom and side of the bowl often. (When sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry)

  4. 4

    Add milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy

  5. 5

    Keep icing covered with a damp cloth until ready to be used
